What is Marketplace Prayer?
Why do I need Marketplace Prayer?
Whether you are a business owner or an employee, God has established you in your marketplace to be a change agent. You are a vital part of his overall plan to see His Kingdom established here “…on earth as it is in heaven.” -Matthew 6:10
In seeking God through prayer, Marketplace ROCK Prayer Partners help you discern and pursue your specific role in God’s plan for transformation of society for His Kingdom. No matter where you are along the path to reflecting Christ’s Kingdom, Marketplace ROCK will assist you in the shift from being a Godly person in the workplace to becoming a powerful change agent for the Kingdom of God.
Marketplace ROCK will help you, “…pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” -Ephesians 6:18
Marketplace ROCK Prayer Partners are highly skilled at presenting powerful prayers before God, as well as hearing from God. They serve as ‘cross checks’ to help confirm the direction God gives you for your business and your life; remembering that, “by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.” -2 Corinthians 13:1b
How can it be right to pay people to pray?
Prayer is no more of a purchased commodity than preaching or leading worship. We pay people to lead us into the Presence of God through worship and we pay people to preach the Gospel in our churches; usually because they have been called into these ministry positions as a full-time career. We also give money to support missionaries who travel the world praying with people and ministering to them. Marketplace ROCK intercessors are not just workers being paid to pray; they are people who are called by the Lord to intercede. They are local missionaries to the marketplace; it is their ministry and calling. The Marketplace ROCK model enables these intercessors to focus the main part of their day on what God has called them to, and to do it on behalf of other people (businesses). It is similar to the Israelites financially supporting the Levites who ministered to the Lord (prayed) in the temple on their behalf.
It is the responsibility of every believer to pray. Isn’t using Marketplace ROCK like outsourcing our duty?
The Word of God tells us that we should all pray (without ceasing – 1Thesselonians 5:17). However, how many believers pray 1-2 hours a week for their families, job/business, city, church and community? Are you able to spend that much time in prayer? While we recognize the importance of prayer, most believers do not pray even 15 minutes a day. We pay pastors to study the Word and teach us, yet that does not relieve us of our responsibility to be in the Word ourselves. Accordingly, Marketplace ROCK is not a means for our clients to outsource their prayer responsibilities. We are your prayer partner providing spiritual support and guidance; helping you co-labor with God, being mindful to pray without ceasing.
Are you saying that I can buy God’s favor for my business?
Absolutely not! You cannot buy blessings or favor from God as a commodity because you already have it through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. You can, however, seek God through prayer to see His favor manifest in your life and business as you align more closely with His will. The goal of prayer from Marketplace ROCK prayer partners is to seek God for confirmation regarding your key business issues, providing you with greater discernment and making it easier to stay in alignment with God’s will for your business. To support this goal, Marketplace ROCK prayer partners also pray for protection for you, your family and your business; resulting in fewer battles (spiritually and in the natural) for business advancement. With fewer battles, you can focus on your business success and see God’s favor manifest on earth as it is in heaven.
How can intercessors spend that much time praying for my business?
People who have been called to intercede for others have a passion for being in the presence of the Lord through prayer. They have no problem spending hours of time seeking the heart of God. They seek God with your prayer requests and they listen for God’s “still small voice” to discern any insight He might want to impart to you. They also pray for your clients, vendors, employees, family, church and marketplace…there tends to be no lack of things to pray for pertaining to you, your business and your sphere of influence.
